The PPCN President and Chief Operating Officer oversees the day to day business operations of the network, drives organizational growth and impact through leading the development and implementation strategy related to key PPCN priorities, and serves as the key point of contact for payers, member pharmacies, stakeholders, and other partners.

Essential Functions

  • Lead development, implementation, and updating of initiatives related to PPCNs strategic aims
  • Identify opportunities (and threats) in current and emerging marketplaces that align with network priorities and advancing PPCN’s mission
  • Propose strategic directions to improve profitability and effective operations
  • Responsible for executing the long-term goals of PPCN
  • Oversee PPCN’s financial activities by developing and maintaining a real-time, in-depth understanding of PPCN cash flow and financial statements
  • Routinely analyze the network’s financial position (SWOT)
  • Lead the PPCN board of directors in the long-term financial planning and annual budgeting process.
  • Represent PPCN when meeting with external stakeholders and vendors
  • Be able to anticipate how trends and other influences locally, regionally, and nationally may impact opportunities for network pharmacists
  • Utilize a savvy understanding of healthcare payers (including, but not limited to health plans, government, employers, etc.) and community pharmacy to create and execute a coordinated, thoughtful payer engagement strategy
  • Negotiate contracts that are financially sustainable and enable PPCN to exceed expectations
  • Monitor and assure contract implementation
  • Work with key stakeholders such as:
    • The Community Pharmacy Enhanced Services Network – USA (CPESN) to execute the day to day and strategic aims of PPCN, use of legal services, and contracting/payment support
    • The Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association (PPA) and other stakeholders to plan state-wide conference tracks and regional PPCN engagements and to align advocacy efforts with those that promote the mission and vision of PPCN
    • The Pennsylvania State Department of Health (DOH), PPA, and other partners as a grants administrator for projects that overlap with PPCN
    • Vendors (such as University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy) to ensure that quality methods, process improvement tools, change management techniques, complex analytics and project management discipline are utilized to maximize the likelihood of success
    • Develop relationships and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders including, but not limited to, employers, health insurance brokers, governmental agencies, network consultants, technology and other vendors, and amongst others.
  • Validate project results and recognize network achievements, especially to PPA’s members and other key stakeholders and constituent groups.
  • Provide stewardship and oversight, to engage in problem-solving and to assure network successes.
  • Work with the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association (PPA) to align new membership and retention efforts
  • Serve as a contact point, resource, and consultant to network pharmacies as it relates to PPCN’s mission and strategic aims
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Experience contracting for healthcare services and/or extensive knowledge of the community pharmacy landscape (required)
  • Experience managing the financials of an organization (required)
  • Experience overseeing day to day operations of a high growth organization (strongly preferred)
  • Experience leading healthcare quality or value-based initiatives (strongly preferred)
  • Experience in collaborating across teams and stakeholders towards a shared vision/mission (strongly preferred)
  • Understanding of compliance requirements to be a clinically integrated network (preferred)

  • Be well-versed in generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Exercises project management to operate within allocated budgets.
  • Possesses a demonstrated ability to develop, mentor and recruit talented pharmacy leaders.

  • Ability to travel up to 25-40% as needed to pharmacies and regional and national meetings
  • Ability to work remotely with high-speed internet access
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and multiple virtual meeting platform
